Architecture 410 Projects
Architecture 410 is the first junior-level studio that focused on presentation and programic elements
Arch 410 Project 1 - Urban Row Housing
Project 1 focused on building row houses in an urban setting near downtown Milwaukee. The site given was a parking lot taking up half of the block used by an adjacent building. The site sloped slightly from front to back and I used it to my advantage by putting in exposed underground parking. The program also called for an Art Gallery and Community Center to be placed on the site as well.
Arch 410 Project 2 - Milwaukee Culture Works
The second part of the semester was to design an cultural center in the Third Ward of Milwaukee; a historical industrial area that has been converted to restaurants, shops and condos. The program was quite large, over 100,000 square feet, and the site was very small (only 50 feet wide and about 200 deep) so the building was very tall and narrow as a result.
Arch 410 Project 3 - A Branch Library
The last project for Architecture 410 was to redesign a library on North Avenue in Milwaukee. We studied various layouts and designs for libraries in the process. In addition to the regular stacks section the program called for meeting facilities, a youth-focused area, DVD collections and computer access.
