Architecture 100 Chair

An exercise in furniture design

Description

As I study to be an architecture major, I had to design and build a model chair for my Arch 100 Class. We had to use the design elements we learned in class to recreate one of the oldest architectural inventions: the 4 legged-chair. I constructed this in the basement of my house over Thanksgiving weekend out of plexiglas with the help of my dad.

The Presentation is a 12x12 inch piece of paper that the model was sitting on in the SARUP building. People could push a button to make the chair light up. The part that I find amusing is that it is a pretty basic chair, the only trump is that it lights up.

It won 4th place, just under the place where I would get a gift certificate, but it drew a strong reaction from students who either liked it or were jealous of it.
