Architecture Projects

The work I have produced in my studio classes and several other projects

Below is an exhaustive list of all the projects I have completed while an undergraudate student (as well as a few earlier projects). Most of these are architecture projects and hey are arranged in class number (reverse-cronological) order. There are also a handful of projets completed for classes taken in the Honors College, Independent Studies and Urban Planning classes. For an overall look at my work please have a look at my portfolio.

Architecture 497 - Independent Study on the Paris Metro

Arch 497

The study abroad program included a 3-credit independent study project of our choosing. The topic was very open-ended, but when I experienced the Paris Metro I knew that I wanted to write about the topic. I did a lot of research on foot myself and did the print research when I got back to the states.

Architecture 497 - Study Abroad in Paris/Rome

Arch 497

In the fall of 2006 I embarked on a semester long study abroad. Led by a professor from the Architecture Department, we toured France and Italy and studied the villas, chateaus, ruins and many other architectural relics. The studio compoent of the class were three projects based on sites we visted.

For my photos, blog and soon to be videos, see my Paris website »

Architecture 420

Arch 420

The second Level II studio focused more on considering the site and making the building mesh with it rather than specific requirements for square feet, though those were still part of the program. Also, this studio asked for site, buidling and scale models in addition to presentation boards.

Architecture 410

Arch 410

The first of the Level II studio consists of a series of projects for sites in Milwaukee. The programs are fairly specific with regard to square footages and features. The lessons taught are to use precedents and case studies, design presentation board layouts and to analyze and use sites effectively.

Sophomore Architecture Portfolio

Portfolio

For entry into the second level in my program I was required to submit a portfolio. My portfolio contains work from my first two years in school, or, all the projects you see below:

Architecture 210

Arch 210

This was a lecture class in the spring of sophomore year, however, there was a detail model project and a web design project based on the architect of the detail that we built:

Architecture 201

Arch 201

The second studio was different where the basis was mostly analysis and dissection of other buildings and sites in a more abstract manner  There were 2 projects each with 3 exercises to them:

Architecture 200

Arch 200

The first studio class in the real program, held fall semester of sophomore year.  Technically it was a 4 credit class but we would put in as many as 80 hours a week working on things. There were 4 exercises and 3 projects:

Architecture 100

Arch 100

The preliminary Architecture class fall semester of freshman year, originally of 500 students that weed out over 60% of them. There were two projects that we did, a model of a church and a chair design. There were two projects:

Honors Projects

Honors classes require large projects or papers at the end of the semester

Honors 380

Honors 380

This was an "Appreciating Art Class" which mostly meant that we appreciated by doing. For the final project we had to take 5 pictures that told a story:

Honors 680

This class focused on the study of home environments. For the final paper I wrote about how the American kitchen has changed over the last 300 years:

Urban Planning Projects

Below are the final projects of some Urban Planning classes

Urban Planning 315 - Great Cities

Honors 380

For the class final, each student was assigned a major world city to study from a planning perspective incorporating the material from the class.  We studied Lynch's theories of patterns of development and their application applied to Moscow, as well as its general history in the web-page project I created.

(This project is also under my Web Design section)
